Naam kya hai janab ka ...Face Off

With the advent of telecommuting and folks across multiple geographic locaitons, sometimes the completed project gets executed with only the name being know. Often a face cannot (or is not) tagged to the name due to logistics issues.

But does it really matter ! Can we have the same level of comfort and rapport by knowing the name of the person we are talking/working with. Is that all ? What caused the new chat site to start allowing photo mug-shots to have a view of the person. How did the evolution happen from simple-looking chat sites to newer enhanced sites that incorporate photo, voice, movies in addition to Chat.

Yes - a "face" to tag to the Name is a great advantage. Often during the working enviroment, if one knows the other person (either met or has seen the other personally or via sharing of photos), the discussion goes on a more comfort level and is more effective and efficient. So, when we say "What's in a name ?" - it is really that and much more beyond that, in this new world of communication.

Sites like Orkut (and other equivalent sites) are gaining popularity as we know who we are chatting/orkutting with. Its not the old days of chatting with a "user-name", with no view of the person at the other end (of course very few users really used webcams) !

Well, there are caveats in the newer name-face recognization with fake profiles coming up, but then Rome was not build in One Day. We take a small step at a time :-)

Offcourse, on a lighter vein - the face can also lead to more confusion. An example, could be the driving License (attached photo) of a popular movie star as shown in one of the newer movies.
Guess who !
